Education

I believe that the events that happened in AD 70 that were recorded by Josephus and Tacticus chronicle the 'exit' of those who held the secrets of the ancient world. The departure left humankind to struggle to rediscover that which was lost the Dark Ages was our time to adjust. We are now arrogant in our accomplishments lacking as they are. 2012 will be an awakening, a new beginning. Listen to your heart and trust your gut.
Tiya, Greystone

I believe 2012 will be an important year. An awakening.
Judy, Hoover

I believe what children learn today they teach tomorrow. What will yours pass on?

I believe that the home should be the main place where education takes place.
Dion S., Locust Fork

Jessica, Auburn

I believe everyday you learn something is a day that is never wasted.
Mel, Birmingham

I believe that we need stronger administrators whom are knowledgeable of their job duties to lead the school systems. We need more professional teachers who are qualified and who understand children. I have found that some teachers are not student friendly. There should be more parent involvement in the schools and helping their children with homework! Parents should always check on their children at least twice per week during the school year!
Realtor Cotina M., Birmingham

I believe the future generations depend on how we influence the world today.
Michelle, Homewood

I believe educating children is an extremely difficult task--especially in today's society. But I also believe educating children is extremely worth the time and effort! My students have taught me that with their every "ah-ha" moment!
Kendra, San Antonio

I believe education is like gasoline, it moves us just like a fueled-up car and takes us where we want to be.
Dion S., Locust Fork

I believe every child can learn...but not necessarily at the same pace or capacity. Each child is unique and creative in their own respect. Testing cannot measure that! There are children who are smarter than others, but society doesn't want to hurt the less-than-smart child's feelings because it might hurt their self-esteem. What about the smarter child's self-esteem? With No Child Left Behind, children ARE getting left behind...the ones who don't need as much one-on-one attention...the one who might one day find a cure for cancer.
Teacher, Texas

I believe that EVERY child can learn...it is up to us--as adults, as role models--to determine WHAT and HOW they learn. I believe that we should be positive examples for our future.
Rachel, Warrior

I believe that our children are the future and education starts at home.
Jeff, Oneonta

I believe our public education system is broken. The leaders do not want to discuss a fix, only to explain and excuse the failures of public education. This tells me it will not be fixed soon.
Henry, Pell City

I believe it's never too late to go to college and start a new career, even if I am almost 30 years old, married with two toddlers.
Marcie, Centreville

I believe the arts are just as important as math and English in a child's life.
Stephanie, Birmingham

I believe that once I receive a teaching degree, I will be able to make a difference.
Echelle P, Cleveland

I believe that all children should be entitled to equal educational opportunities regardless of where they live.

I believe the best educators that children have are their parents and grandparents.
Andrea, Birmingham

I believe that children are our future. Teach them to embrace life, respect the law and authority and instill in them a genuine love for each other and the world around them.
Liz B., Birmingham

I believe in Auburn and I love it!
Caroline, Birmingham

I believe that building a child up is one of the most important things teachers can do! Children need to know that you believe in them and that you are there for them no matter what!
Allison, Birmingham

I believe in the power of history.
Emily N., Birmingham

I believe that teachers make the world a brighter place!
Leslie H., Hueytown

I believe we need great teachers -- like Mrs. Roberts at Riverchase Middle School. She is a wonderful teacher because she can relate to her students and make school more enjoyable. We need more teachers like Mrs. Roberts who loves to share her knowledge of the world and challenges her students to think outside the box!
Maggie M., Birmingham
